  • How do I configure MyPhoto so that I can publish Phlog albums to my web server?
As it turns out, setting up MyPhoto with your web server information sounds more difficult than it actually is. In most cases, you really only need three pieces of information from your Hosting Service Provider to start publishing. The information you need is your FTP server address, your username and your password.

In some cases, you may have to provide the name of a destination directory on your server where your photo web site should be published. Some servers require users to upload their files in special directory, such as www or web.

You may also need to enter the base HTTP web address (eg., http://www.yourdomain.com/username/) on the server where your Phlog web albums can be accessed by visitors. Some servers use an HTTP address and path for accessing web pages which is different than the address and path which was used for publishing the files.

For more information on setting up MyPhoto with server information, visit our FTP Server Setup section.

  • Can I use a dial-up modem when publishing a Phlog album to the web?
Technically speaking, yes. However, it's not recommended. Especially if you plan to upload original photos to your web server. The time you spend waiting for your Phlog album to publish will give new meaning to the word "interminable." If you have no choice but to use dial-up, you'll probably want to have a cup a coffee. Or two.

  • Can I create a Phlog site that uses a Start Page layout that is different than the layouts of the Phlog albums it indexes?
Yes, the Start Page can have a different layout than the Phlog albums it indexes. However, you will want to experiment and see which layouts work best with one another from a work flow and design perspective.

As you will discover, there are different types of layouts and layout structures. Theme oriented and seasonal layouts (Birthday, Wedding, etc...) typically have a two or three level structure. Professional class layouts (Photo Pro, Photo Matrix, etc...) usually only one or two level structures.
